The Organisation:


Established in 1996, Balla Community Resources Development (CRD) is a non-profit making community development organisation focused on improving the quality- of-life for everyone in the community.

Our vision is of a diverse, inclusive and vibrant community who see Balla CRD as the first port of call, providing

an independent local resource in making the greatest positive impact on the people in our community. Our role in the neighbourhood is to lead economic development and community engagement efforts with other community groups, businesses and appropriate agencies.

General Description of the Position:


The Manager will report to the Chairman of the Board and will be

responsible for driving effectiveness, efficiencies and collaboration for all Balla CRD operations, ensuring

projects are delivered to a high quality.


The manager’s role will be to develop and sustain Balla CRD as a thriving social enterprise in accordance with the mission, vision and values of the organisation and ensure that the Business Plan’s goals and objectives are achieved. This is to be achieved through a leadership/management style that is both inclusive in its operation and embraces diversity in its dealings with all our stakeholders.



Balla Community Resource Centre

Working Hours: 39 hours per week – note that flexibility is essential for this role as out of hours and

weekend work will be required as part of the role.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Balla Community Resource Centre and facilities in a dynamic and efficient manner

  • Ensure professional standards are met for project and office management

  • Proactively lead specific projects and events as they arise

  • Ensure effective management of budget, expenditure and income and that the highest standards of

  • governance are maintained, including developing and implementing policies, procedures and development

  • plans as well as robust Financial Management Systems

  • Ensure systems and procedures are in place to deliver a quality service

  • Develop and drive a cohesive Marketing & Promotion Strategy across all communication channels

  • Manage staff and support volunteers and directors to implement initiatives in line with our business plan

  • Deliver operational and process reviews to improve effectiveness and efficiency

  • Provide leadership in order to maintain and enhance relationships with staff, stakeholders and other

  • agencies.

  • Network with other community groups and build relationships and strategic alliances

  • Extend Balla CRD’s social media presence and service awareness through development and maintenance of

  • the Website, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Linked-In and the Community Noticeboard

  • Proactively facilitate the reporting on all inputs and outcomes for Balla CRD programmes within deadlines

  • Undertake training to develop relevant knowledge, techniques and skills

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements

  • Represent Balla CRD at stakeholder meetings with local authorities and funders (Pobal, LEADER, DCRD, etc.)

  • Undertake any other duties or responsibilities within the scope of the post as determined by the Board


Person Specification, The ideal candidate will: 

  • Have 3 + years’ relevant experience in a supervisory or project management role with degree level education Have a proven track record of leading projects to successful conclusions and an ability to handle multiple

  • projects, meet deadlines, and function independently in a busy office environment.

  •  Be self-motivated, a self-starter and be able to work effectively on own initiative.

  •  Be a customer and business focused person who is very organised.

  •  Demonstrate ability to build effective & successful relationships and networks.

  •  Show commitment to, and understanding of, working in an inclusive and collaborative manner.

  •  Demonstrate a proven track record on ability to recognise and identify potential opportunities & the capability to successfully apply for new funding sources.

  •  Display the ability to delegate responsibilities and work collaboratively with others.

  •  Show evidence of willingness to participate in Training and Self-Improvement opportunities.

  •  Be analytical and process driven and approach work in an innovative and enthusiastic way.

  •  Demonstrate proficiency in social media to promote and develop Balla CRD.

  •  Exhibit experience in, and a strong appreciation of, community development & planning, social enterprise, economic development and be passionate about community and the idea of people working together to create positive change.

  • Show a sound understanding and working knowledge of HR Policies, Governance and Financial Management.

  • Have successful experience leading groups in a committee environment focused on a common goal.

  • Have strong written and oral communication skills and excellent attention to detail in their work.

  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills and ability to independently and thoroughly seek out creative solutions to problems and questions.

  •  Be proficient in computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

  •  Demonstrate experience working with diverse groups of people.

  •  Be capable of working a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, in order to attend community meetings and events.

  •  Have a valid driver’s license and own transportation
