Community Recreation Facility
A number of organisations in Balla are currently in the process of applying for a grant from the Rural Regeneration Development Fund (RRDF) to create a Community Recreation Facility at Balla Secondary School. This Fund provides investment to support rural renewal for suitable projects in towns and villages with a population of less than 10,000, and outlying areas. It is administered by the Department of Rural and Community Development.
The new RRDF provides an unprecedented opportunity to support the revitalisation of rural Ireland, to make a significant and sustainable impact on rural communities, to address de-population in small rural towns, villages and rural areas and result in . Strengthened Rural Economies and Communities.
The Balla Project is a collaborative initiative between Balla Secondary School, SWMDC, Balla CRD, Balla Community Council, Balla Town Park, Balla GAA, Balla Tidy Towns, Balla Foróige Club and Balla Active Retired Group. The first phase involves the development of a community sports field and a walking, jogging and cycling track.
