New River Rodney Walk

Balla tidy Towns retrieved 22 bags of household rubbish from the Balla River Rodney in May 2018 and this resulted in a substantial debate on how this type of environmental sabotage could be discouraged and prevented from reoccurring.  It was decided that a new  joint project would be developed with plans for raising awareness of the wonderful river in Balla.

 

Currently this collaborative project between Mick Kane,  Community Water  Officer & Norita Clesham, SWMDC, Balla CRD, Balla Tidy Towns, Balla Town Park and Mayo County Council is looking at  developing a plan for the Balla River Rodney which involves identifying sources of funding, creating a strategy to increase awareness and highlight the importance of our river from an environmental, heritage and economic point of view.
